We’ll be planting hundreds of spring bulbs, smaller plants and sowing seeds at the Workhouse Burial Ground. We’ll also be there to talk about the rest of the planting we’ve got planned.
This discrete green space off the Wellsway, adjacent to St Martins Garden Primary School, is where over 3000 bodies lie in unmarked graves. Those buried there died in the Bath Workhouse between 1858 and 1899.
Over the the coming months we aim to improve the space for people and wildlife, as well as to commemorate those who are buried there.
We’re very grateful to the Neighbourhood Portion of CIL funding, via Bath & NE Somerset Council, for funding this element of the work (in addition to the National Lottery Heritage Fund) and to Odd Down Community Association for their contribution to an information board.
No need to book, and please do feel free to drop in for just part of the session.
