The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) team will be running four sessions in January and February to help with cutting and clearing some of the scrub and brambles to help protect the meadows and connect the islands of grass. Over time they’ll want to expand the grassland area and also create a mosaic of different habitats, including mixed scrub, that is good for nature.
Dates for the 2025 volunteering are: 8 January 2025, 22 January 2025, 28 January 2025 and 12 February 2025. They’ll run from 10.30am to 3.30pm and you can book a place by contacting Claire Dinsdale at TCV via c.dinsdale@tcv.org.uk.
An astonishing 97% of haymeadows have been lost in the UK since the 1930s and that is why it matters so much that we look to protect the grassland that we have at Charlcombe Community Nature Reserve (accessible via Charlcombe Way) in Bath.
