The peaceful St.Catherine’s Valley lies just to the north of Bath. This narrow but steep sided valley has a particularly attractive landscape thanks to the extensive woodland scattered throughout and the two major tributary valleys in the area.
The lanes in the valley make for quite a captivating walk thanks to the natural tree and hedgerow lining, with the flowery hedge banks at their best in the late spring.
Worth visiting on its own, there are footpaths up and down the valley sides and along the brook from Bathampton Meadows and riverside. Or it can be part of a longer walk taking in Solsbury Hill, Bannerdown or Charmy Down.
